Long a cornerstone of London’s social and culinary set, Isabel Mayfair’s first permanent outpost beyond Mayfair unfolds in the UAE capital this April with a quiet assurance, trading in atmosphere as much as appetite. Positioned within The Galleria Al Maryah Island, the restaurant is conceived as a continuum that moves effortlessly from sunlit refinement to the low-lit cadence of late evening. It is a space designed around the rituals of gathering where, in Abu Dhabi, that rhythm feels particularly resonant.

At its core is an ingredient-led philosophy helmed by Vincent Visinet, whose Mediterranean sensibility favours precision over performance. His menu is not declarative, but composed, built on clarity of flavour, with moments of subtle invention. London signatures appear, but never as replicas; instead, they are refracted through a new context, shaped by seasonality and a sensitivity to place. Expect everything from croquetas enriched with onion and leek béchamel, to a vegetable tartlet and heirloom tomatoes rendered almost translucent beneath a verbena-infused consommé. It is a cuisine that resists excess, choosing instead to linger in detail.

Further along, the menu deepens in tone. Carabineros are paired with a concentrated head jus and bright kaffir lime, offset by a nori-laced potato roll, an interplay of land and sea that feels both intuitive and daring. The famed Beef Wellington, encased in immaculate pastry with mushroom duxelles and veal jus, anchors the experience with a classical permanence. Desserts, meanwhile, tread the line between nostalgia and refinement via a red berry pavlova with confit and sorbet, and a generously scaled pistachio madeleine.

Yet to speak of Isabel purely in terms of its menu is to miss its essential language. Designed by DBM Studio, under the direction of Mahsa Gholizadeh, the interiors are composed with a near-couture sensibility. Polished brass and Calacatta Viola marble set a material foundation, while midnight blue velvets and hand-embroidered silks introduce a softness that borders on theatrical. The result is a concept that retains its London DNA while attuning itself to Abu Dhabi’s increasingly discerning audience, one that values discretion as much as display.
