When Isabel Mayfair first announced its arrival in Abu Dhabi, expectations were understandably high. The London institution has long been one of Mayfair’s most coveted addresses — a restaurant as renowned for its atmosphere as its food, frequented by fashion insiders, creatives, and an international crowd who appreciate the finer things done without fuss. As one of the first publications invited through its doors following the opening, Eyes Arabia experienced first-hand whether the celebrated restaurant could successfully translate its signature magic from London’s most glamorous postcode to the UAE capital. The answer, it turns out, is a resounding yes.
Few restaurants manage to cultivate a genuine sense of occasion before the first course arrives. Isabel Mayfair has always understood that dining is about more than what’s on the plate. From the moment guests step inside its home at The Galleria Al Maryah Island, there is an unmistakable sense of arrival. Designed by DBM Studio under the creative direction of Mahsa Gholizadeh, the interiors strike a delicate balance between intimacy and glamour. Warm lighting reflects off rich materials, bronze accents shimmer throughout the space, and every corner feels thoughtfully composed. Much like its Mayfair predecessor, the room possesses that increasingly rare quality of making guests feel simultaneously transported and completely at ease.

The menu, overseen by chef Vincent Visinet, follows an ingredient-led Mediterranean philosophy that favours restraint over spectacle. We began with the burrata and tuna tartare, both beautifully executed. The burrata delivered freshness and creaminess in equal measure, while the tuna tartare showcased clean flavours and remarkable balance. For mains, the saffron risotto and langoustine demonstrated exactly why Isabel Mayfair has built such a loyal following in London. The risotto was deeply comforting, rich without becoming heavy, carrying the distinctive warmth of saffron throughout. The langoustine, meanwhile, was a perfect example of the kitchen’s confidence in letting simplicity speak for itself.

Accompanying the meal was Isabel’s signature Paloma cocktail, a refined interpretation of the classic serve that perfectly captures the restaurant’s personality. Desserts, too, maintained the standard. The Floating Island offered a light, elegant finish, while the Pavlova balanced crisp textures with freshness and delicacy. Both felt carefully considered rather than obligatory conclusions to the meal.
Yet if the food impresses, it is the service that truly elevates Isabel Mayfair into another category. Great hospitality often goes unnoticed because it feels seamless. Here, though, every interaction appears effortless. The team is knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely warm, operating with a level of polish more commonly associated with the world’s finest dining rooms. Glasses are topped up discreetly, recommendations feel personal, and every detail is managed with top-tier precision. It is service on another level entirely. That attention to detail ultimately defines the experience itself. The food is exceptional, the cocktails memorable, the design beautiful. But more importantly, everything works together to create a restaurant that feels complete.
