In 2029, Dubai’s most coveted hotel will carry its signature excellence to the atolls of the Maldives with one of the most ambitious hospitality projects the Indian Ocean has ever seen. Rising from the shores of Vaaredhdhoo Faru in the South Malé Atoll, Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will introduce a new scale of design and experience to the region, a dual-island world where architecture, nature, gastronomy, entertainment, and wellness move in seamless harmony.
Set across more than 1.3 million square metres of land and framed by 5.8 kilometres of white-sand beachfront, Atlantis The Royal, Maldives is designed to move with the landscape rather than dominate it. The project has been conceived from the start as a reimagining of what the Maldives can be, reframing it as a culturally resonant, multi-dimensional destination. The concept brings Atlantis’ global reputation for spectacle and innovation to a setting defined by purity and calm, blending the two to create a new genre of island experience.
The resort is uniquely divided into two islands, each with its own identity yet connected by a shared narrative of elevated living. One island is dedicated to families, imagined as a vibrant ecosystem of discovery, creativity, and connection. Here, days unfold through a multitude of experiences, from marine exploration and sports academies to lively dining scenes and imaginative play zones. The heart of this island is its extraordinary Aquaventure park, spanning 70,000 square metres and introducing up to 15 iconic water rides shaped around the Neptune and Poseidon towers. It is the first time the Maldives will see such an immersive entertainment universe, one that also integrates a Maldivian edition of The Lost Chambers Aquarium, spotlighting naturally occurring local marine life under the sustainability umbrella of the Atlantis Atlas Project.
Across the water lies the second island, dedicated to pure luxury. This is a world of quiet architecture and refined privacy, where villas and mansions are sculpted along the shoreline to maximise light, breeze, and sea views. The mood is contemplative, designed for travellers seeking a heightened sense of serenity without compromising on sophistication. The island’s beach clubs, restaurants, and wellness spaces reinterpret the essence of Maldivian seclusion through a contemporary, design-forward lens.
Across both islands, the dining landscape will be one of the resort’s defining signatures. Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will house more than seventeen culinary experiences, including the brand’s renowned concepts such as Gastronomy, The Royal Tearoom, and the celebrated Ossiano. The line-up will extend to celebrity-chef restaurants, oceanfront beach clubs, and contemporary social-dining spaces, positioning the resort as a gastronomic destination in its own right.
Wellness, meanwhile, takes on an entirely new dimension. Instead of a singular spa, the resort creates an island-wide wellbeing journey that moves through botanical alchemy zones, longevity-led treatment suites, overwater platforms for yoga and breathwork, and a hybrid indoor-outdoor fitness centre. With 270 rooms and 223 villas and mansions across the two islands, the resort blends scale with intimacy, spectacle with tranquillity, and adventure with design purity.
Atlantis The Royal, Maldives is not a replica of its Dubai counterpart. Rather, it’s a reinterpretation of the brand’s legendary spirit through the legacy lens of the Maldives. This is the Maldives as it has never been imagined before. A new icon begins.
