The relentless pursuit of horological perfection and the ambition to create timepieces that defy conventions have firmly anchored Richard Mille at the heart of the Eyes Magazine universe. Since its founding in 2001, the eponymous brand has pushed the boundaries of technology, design, and craftsmanship. Today, acclaimed for its unparalleled technical mastery and artistic vision, Richard Mille is highly coveted by men and women alike. While its early watches were initially designed for men, the brand has also established itself as a leading brand for women.

Women’s watches took time to forge a true identity. In the past, they resembled small jewelry pieces or scaled-down versions of men’s watches. Since, women have inspired many great watchmakers. It was only at the dawn of the 2000s that justice was served with the emergence of collections exclusively dedicated to them. But women wanted more, and the simplified versions of men’s watches, often overcompensated with excessive diamonds to mask technical simplicity left much to be desired. They sought more creativity, more complexity, and the perfect blend of aesthetics and technique. Richard Mille understood this and addressed a key 21st-century watchmaking challenge; bringing grand complications to women’s wrists.

In 2005, Richard Mille made waves by unveiling his reinterpretation of the women’s watch, the RM 007. Highly technical and refined, this model was a resounding success and significantly contributed to the rise of grand complications in the world of women’s watchmaking. Its variations — like the RM 07-01 Colored Ceramics collection with its unalterable hue — have secured a special place in the hearts of women, who now account for third of Richard Mille’s sales.

As proof of the brand’s admiration for women, the brand has partnered for over 15 years with the esteemed actress Michelle Yeoh, resulting in the creation of two timepieces: the RM 051 and the RM 51-01 Tourbillon. In 2018, Richard Mille launched the RM 07-01 Black Ceramic Set, the world’s first watch featuring a diamond-set ceramic bezel. And in 2023, the RM 07-04 was born, introducing the brand’s first-ever sports collection exclusively for women, powered by the CRMA8 titanium movement. That same year, legendary Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce joined the Richard Mille family, marking another milestone in the brand’s glorious feminine journey.

Year after year, Richard Mille has succeeded in democratizing high watchmaking for women. While other brands limited themselves to simply adapting men’s watches, Richard Mille embraced complexity. The introduction in 2013 of a specific “Women’s Complication Prize” by the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) proved him right. A modern-day Don Juan, Richard Mille seems far from finished conquering the hearts of women.
