To mark its 1,000th Formula 1 Grand Prix start, McLaren Automotive has unveiled the Artura 1000GP by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), an ultra-exclusive tribute to one of the most significant milestones in the team’s illustrious racing legacy. Just ten examples will be produced worldwide, making it one of the rarest modern McLarens to leave the gates of Woking.

The timing is fitting. Later this year, the McLaren Formula 1 Team will line up on the grid at Monaco for its 1,000th Grand Prix appearance, joining an exceptionally small group of teams to have reached the landmark. More than six decades after Bruce McLaren founded the team in 1963, the British marque continues to occupy a unique position at the intersection of motorsport excellence and automotive innovation. Created by McLaren Special Operations, the division responsible for the brand’s most bespoke and collectible commissions, the car draws inspiration from the special livery worn by the McLaren MCL40 Formula 1 cars driven by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.

It features a bespoke 1000GP graphic stretches across the bonnet, lower bodywork and mirror casings, while carefully applied pinstripe detailing references some of the most recognisable liveries in McLaren’s racing history. The design feels less like a celebratory decal package and more like a visual timeline, honouring the people, victories and setbacks that shaped the team over the past 63 years. Inside, owners will find an anodised metallic papaya dedication plaque, finished in the iconic colour synonymous with McLaren Racing. It serves as a discreet reminder that this Artura represents far more than a limited-production supercar. It is a tangible piece of Formula 1 history.

That connection between road and race cars has always been central to the McLaren story. Bruce McLaren built his team on the belief that innovation, collaboration and relentless improvement should drive every aspect of the business. More than half a century later, that philosophy continues to influence everything from championship-winning race cars to the road-going machines that bear his name. “The McLaren Artura 1000GP by MSO is a testament to that legacy and offers our clients a meaningful connection to the MCL40 in a milestone moment,” said Nick Collins, Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Group Holdings.

The milestone itself is remarkable. Across 1,000 Grands Prix, McLaren Racing has amassed more than 200 race victories and ten Constructors’ World Championships, helping define entire eras of Formula 1 through drivers including Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen and Lewis Hamilton. For collectors, however, the significance of the Artura 1000GP extends beyond statistics. Limited-run McLarens tied to pivotal moments in the company’s racing heritage have consistently become some of the marque’s most sought-after models. With only ten examples destined for clients worldwide, this latest creation arrives with all the ingredients of a future collector’s item.
