There are cars that turn heads, and then there are cars that leave time suspended in awe. The McLaren 750S firmly belongs to the latter category. From the moment we pressed the Start button, the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 roared to life with a clarity that cuts through even the quietest Swiss mornings. This wasn’t just a casual drive. It was a masterclass in motion, a communion of man, machine, and mountain road.
With the composite retractable hardtop folded back, Geneva’s summer air wrapped around us, cool, crisp, and tinged with the faint scent of pine from the surrounding Jura hills. A route many take for pleasure suddenly transformed into a high-definition blur of asphalt, sky, and sensation. The 750S doesn’t just accelerate; it erupts, with 750 HP and 800 Nm launching the lightweight 1,326 kg McLaren from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds. Inhale, and you’re past the Lavaux vineyards. Exhale, and you’re in Montreux.
Built upon McLaren’s signature carbon fibre structure, the 750S is not only stronger but also lighter, shedding 30 kg compared to the 720S. The carbon fibre upper body, paired with ultra-light carbon-shelled racing seats and wheels, delivers a supercar that’s as agile as it is stunning. Every curve of its sculpted form serves an aerodynamic purpose, from the extended front splitter to the active rear wing.
McLaren’s new Proactive Chassis Control III suspension, combined with its electro-hydraulic steering system, offers a level of feedback and agility that feels hardwired to the driver’s instincts. On the sweeping roads above the lake, the 750S felt surgically precise yet entirely natural.
Inside, the cabin is both minimalist and immersive. A new column-mounted digital display, the McLaren Control Launcher, and a perfectly tuned Bowers & Wilkins sound system transform the cockpit into a space of focus and refinement.
The McLaren 750S is not simply a faster version of its predecessor; it’s a sharper, purer expression of what a supercar can be. Brutally quick yet unexpectedly usable — we might even say comfortable — it’s a machine built from the lightest and strongest materials, with one purpose: delivering pure, unfiltered emotion at every turn.
