The vibrant heart of Switzerland, Zurich is a city brimming with energy that draws visitors in with its rich art and cultural scene. On our last visit, we decided to stay at the FIVE Zurich for a timeless experience. Overlooking Zurich’s glittering city centre, the 5-star hotel combines the best of excellent Swiss hospitality with a forward-thinking approach. As die-hard gourmands, we fell under Maiden Shanghai’s spell, with its elaborate lunch concept that has almost become a rite of passage for visitors.
An award-winning restaurant recognised by Gault&Millau, Maiden Shanghai offers a true gastronomic journey combining traditional Chinese cuisine with modern flavours. Upon arrival, we discover a space inspired by Shanghai in the 1920s. Renowned for one of the best views over the city, Maiden Shanghai offers breathtaking outdoor searing, a main dining area full of energy, as well as a private dining room with an entertaining ambiance.
Comfortably seated, we discover Chinese gourmet dishes inspired by the four renowned Chinese cuisines: Cantonese, Szechuan, Shanghai and Beijing. With a menu designed for everything to be shared, Chef Luo Bing offers imaginative fare with ingredients that are carefully selected, fresh, and subtle. Alongside its trendier events like brunches and Lady’s Nights, the Maiden always promises a surprising interpretation of traditional Asian cuisine with FIVE’s disruptive edge.
With a truly special setting, the FIVE Zurich offers memorable experiences among friends and family. In addition to its 87 high-end suites and rooms, the hotel also boasts seven award-winning dining venues, a chic rooftop club, unique outdoor pool and relaxing spa. Despite the hotel only being 10 minutes from the city centre and its main attractions, we find it difficult to give up the comfort of the hotel and its wealth of high-end facilities. Zurich’s culture will just have to wait for our next visit.
