Personal CraftsmanshipRolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail

As aficionados of excellence, we were delighted to be invited to the unveiling of the Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail, a coachbuilt masterpiece that redefines luxury and craftsmanship. During a private presentation at the Rolls-Royce factory in Goodwood, we had the exclusive opportunity to witness the premiere of this extraordinary vehicle before its official introduction at a private event near Pebble Beach, California.

Hidden in the most secret part of the factory, in a room unknown even to employees, the Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail was revealed to us. Inspired by the captivating charm of the Black Baccara rose, cherished by the matriarch of the commissioning family, this masterpiece embodies the essence of romance and exploration. The dark garnet color appears almost black in the shade, but in direct light, one can notice a pearlescent red shimmer on the dark surface. The two colors, “True Love” and “Mystery,” form the main palette, meticulously crafted through an exclusive painting process, reflecting the intense hues and pearlescent sparkle of the iconic flower.

The exterior body exudes elegance and sophistication.

Like the Black Baccara rose, the bodywork also appears to change color depending on our perspective. To achieve this, the surface finishing specialists developed an entirely new painting process. A base layer, the color of which is a closely guarded secret, was followed by five layers of clear varnish, each blended with a slightly different shade of red. In this way, every detail—from the Hydroshade finish to the bespoke work on the alloy wheels with their mysteriously dark finish—reflects Rolls-Royce’s passion for perfection and personalization.

Inside, we are captivated by its intricate parquetry, symbolizing falling rose petals crafted from over 1,600 pieces of black wood veneer. The enveloping interior, adorned with luxurious leather and meticulously polished metal details, provides a sanctuary of comfort and refinement.

A highlight of this bespoke creation is the integrated Audemars Piguet timepiece.

Perfectly matched to the car’s color palette, demonstrating Rolls-Royce’s commitment to luxury and individuality. The 43mm Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date is powered by a unique self-winding Calibre 4407 movement, featuring a flyback chronograph and split-seconds mechanism, and can be worn on the wrist or elegantly placed in the car via a motorized clasp mechanism activated with a simple push of a button.

In every respect, the La Rose Noire Droptail reflects Rolls-Royce’s passion for automotive excellence and the desire to create a vehicle as unique and extraordinary as its owners. Taking its place in the legendary lineage of their coachbuilt creations, it exemplifies the brand’s unwavering commitment to luxury, craftsmanship, and personalization.
