Italian Maison Zegna has never treated legacy as something to be preserved behind glass. It is something lived, built, and carried forward. Unveiled this February, Memorie is a new fragrance collection that translates more than a century of vision into scents that mirror the lived experience of the brand. Named after the Italian word for “memories,” the collection recalibrates fragments of Ermenegildo Zegna’s past, from the discipline of daily work, the intimacy of thought, the grounding force of nature, and the ambition to look beyond the horizon.
The collection traces its origins back to 1910, when Ermenegildo Zegna founded his wool mill in Trivero, in the Italian Alps. From that moment, a philosophy emerged, one that placed craftsmanship and responsibility in dialogue with landscape. This belief would later shape Oasi Zegna, the vast Alpine territory surrounding the mill, and continues to inform the house’s approach to modern luxury today. Rather than existing as individual expressions, Memorie unfolds as a six-part narrative, revealed in a precise and intentional sequence. Together, the fragrances follow the rhythm of a life in motion, from solitude to scale, from creation to contemplation.

The journey opens with Vol. I — Il Calamaio, created by Dominique Ropion. Set at dawn, it imagines Ermenegildo Zegna seated in his study overlooking the Lanificio. Ink on paper, leather-bound notebooks, polished wood. A leathery amber composition built around ink accord, Turkish rose absolute and oud, it captures the origin of creation, the moment when imagination becomes intention. Vol. II — Il Lanificio, by Fabrice Pellegrin, moves into the heart of the wool mill itself. Raw fibres, warm machinery, and the steady rhythm of human hands. Vanilla Tahitensis, suede and sandalwood evoke material transformed through craft, where nature and industry coexist in balance.
With Vol. III — A Trivero, Quentin Bisch introduces motion. The familiar scent of gasoline in a garage, a Lancia Aurelia starting its engine, crisp Alpine air rushing through an open window. Lavender, rose damascena and myrrh form an aromatic fougère that captures the impulse to leave home and engage with the wider world. Nature takes centre stage in Vol. IV — Il Sottobosco, inspired by the forest floor after rain in Oasi Zegna. Earthy, damp, grounding, it reflects the moments where vision finds clarity through stillness.
Vol. V — La Panoramica follows the mountain road carved into the Alps, expansive, luminous, shaped patiently over time. It is a scent of openness and perspective, where landscape becomes philosophy. The narrative then closes with Vol. VI — Saga del Piemonte, an evening fragrance where memory becomes legacy. Warm, reflective and intimate, it evokes stories shared at night, and experience distilled and passed on.
Each fragrance is housed in a refined glass bottle with soft gradient finishes inspired by its emotional landscape, sealed with an ash-wood cap crowned by the Zegna family crest. Refillable by design, Memorie reflects the belief that luxury should endure, revisited, reinterpreted, and passed forward.
