Some encounters seem inevitable, as if they were written long ago. The meeting of Veuve Clicquot and Simon Porte Jacquemus is one of those luminous alliances that transcends fashion and wine to become a celebration of joy. For the La Grande Dame 2018 vintage, the French designer imagines a sun-drenched reinterpretation, a tribute to artisanal craft and the strength of the women who shaped history.
It all begins with a color: yellow. Veuve Clicquot’s yellow, a symbol of optimism since 1877, and Jacquemus’s yellow, forever inspired by his native Provence. This sunny hue unfolds across a label with irregular edges, embossed with rays of light, and on a drape of white linen that evokes both the timeless elegance of family linens and the traditional art of cooling wine—wrapping the bottle in a damp cloth. Between tradition and modernity, the piece comes alive with embroidered details reminiscent of handwritten notes, almost intimate in nature.
At the heart of this collaboration lies a story of women. That of Madame Clicquot, a pioneer who led the Maison in 1805 when few women held such power. And that of Simon’s mother, an eternal muse inspiring each of his creative gestures. Between them weaves a symbolic bond, transformed here into a cuvée that celebrates feminine strength and the art of passing knowledge down.
The collaboration continues with Le Rafraîchissoir, a rare piece that reinvents the art of serving champagne. Inspired by Médicis vases and crafted with Camille Orfèvre, a master Parisian silversmith, this object is handmade in silver-plated metal, the result of over forty hours of work. Produced on request and limited to fifty pieces, it embodies both the precision of craftsmanship and the poetry of the object.
And then, there is the champagne. La Grande Dame 2018, the twenty-fifth vintage of the cuvée, reflects the art of Pinot Noir as envisioned by Madame Clicquot: powerful yet delicate, precise yet luminous, with a sun-kissed freshness. A champagne that naturally finds its place in Jacquemus’s universe, where emotion always arises from the simplicity of materials and the sincerity of gestures.

Unveiled in New York during Fashion Week, this unprecedented collaboration will soon travel to London, Milan, and Paris, extending a dialogue between couture and champagne, between craftsmanship and emotion, between heritage and modernity. More than a limited edition, it is an invitation to celebrate life’s meaningful moments—with optimism, boldness, and poetry.
